Announcement: Place Matters Commissioned for Esmée Fairbairn Place-Led Research Project

We’re excited to announce that Esmée Fairbairn Foundation has commissioned Place Matters to research the impact of three key projects supported through its place-led funding, which began in 2016.

This research will examine the work and impact of the three ‘place pilots’ which received their place-led funding, which, up until this point, have had a significant influence on Esmée’s approach in building their Creative, Confident Communities.

Every One, Every Day in Barking and Dagenham, the Plymouth Octopus Project, and the Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations, each of which has significantly influenced Esmée’s approach to building Creative, Confident Communities.

This initiative follows up on Esmée’s 2021 insights report, aiming to update and broaden the understanding of community-led change. The goal is to capture a more comprehensive view of the projects’ impacts from various perspectives, beyond Esmée's own as a funder. Additionally, the research will contribute to shaping future strategies for supporting community-driven change.

The study will run from September 2024 to Spring 2025.
